According to the Iranian Fars agency, explosions were heard in the city of Gakhjavorstan.

“Gakhjavorstan is located near Isfahan airport and the 8th army air force base,” the statement said.

Iranian Press Television also notes that an explosion was heard near the city center. Its cause is unknown. The operation of Iranian air defense systems near Isfahan is reported.

The missile launches follow an Iranian attack last Saturday in which the country fired a salvo of more than 300 unmanned drones and missiles at targets across Israel, Israeli military officials previously said. All but a few were intercepted by Israel and its allies, including the United States, the officials said.

The Iranian attack came more than six months after Hamas members invaded the Jewish state on October 7, after which the Israeli army began bombing the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the country’s military cabinet have met several times since the Iranian attacks, and at least two previous attacks were called off, the TV station previously reported. On Thursday, Netanyahu said Israel would make its “own decisions” in response to Iran’s unprecedented airstrikes over the weekend. For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian warned Israel against further military actions.

“The next response on our part will be immediate and at the highest level,” he said on CNN. According to the Foreign Minister, Iran sincerely hopes that Israel does not repeat its “previous glaring mistake,” referring to its attack on the Iranian embassy compound in Syrian Damascus.

Hamas condemned the United States for using its veto power against a draft resolution that would have granted Palestine full membership in the United Nations. The draft, prepared by Algeria, which represents the Arab Group, received support from 12 countries on Thursday afternoon, but was blocked by a US veto. In a statement issued Friday morning local time, Hamas criticized the US position of opposing the Palestinian people’s rights to self-determination and statehood.
