The poverty rate in Russia has fallen to a minimum. At the end of 2022, the country registered the minimum number of poor since 1992: only 10.5% of the total population. In this regard, the KP.RU website conducted a survey and decided to find out how the income of Russians has changed over the past year, 2022.
As it turned out, only a fifth of the respondents talk about improving their well-being. At the same time, 17% say their income over the past year has grown slightly, but 4%’s income has grown significantly.
36% of Russians say their income has stayed the same. At the same time, someone pointed out that his salary may have increased a little, but due to inflation and rising prices, he believes that the overall financial situation in his family has not changed.
18% of those surveyed added that their income has decreased slightly over the past year. Some have been affected by sanctions or job changes, while others have suffered business. Some respondents admitted at the same time that they hope to improve their financial situation in the near future.
“Revenues are down a bit, but this isn’t terrible. My business is reliable, it will grow soon”, shares the survey participant.
But the remaining quarter of Russians admit that their income has dropped significantly over the year. Someone lost their job, someone was forced to change their place to a less paid one.
The survey was conducted among subscribers of the KP.RU site on social networks. 11.6 thousand people participated in the study.
Remember that previously official Rosstat statistics showed that 2022 turned out to be unique in its own way in economic terms. Despite Western sanctions and numerous restrictions on the country’s population, the year turned out to be a success. For the first time in 20 years, the number of poor in the country has been reduced to a minimum.
So now 10.5% of the population – 15.3 million Russians – have incomes below the poverty line. At the same time, a year ago, this figure was almost a million higher – 16 million people.
We add that the poverty line in 2022 was 13,545 rubles, while a year ago it was 11,908 rubles.
