During a meeting with the business community of Delovaya Rossiya, Vladimir Putin spoke about how flights with Georgia have returned.
– In this case, indeed, it was my decision and my proposal, – admitted the president.
– I wanted to support people who are striving to build normal relations with Russia in Georgia itself. Yes, and our business, and our citizens who want to relax there. Those who love Georgia want to be in contact with nature, culture, cuisine, she added.
Vladimir Vladimirovich emphasized that Moscow “will take steps to meet”, but it is important how “our partners” will react to them.
For the head of the country, the protests of the people in Georgia itself were unexpected.
– I thought everyone would say: well, thank you, good. An incomprehensible storm began over this. Unexpected. I think that they are completely crazy about what is happening there, the Russian leader was outraged.
Direct flights between Moscow and Tbilisi ended in 2019. But on May 10, Putin signed a decree returning flights to Georgia from Russia.
The prime minister of the former Soviet republic Irakli Garibashvili supported the decision of the Russian leader. But Georgian President Salomé Zurabishvili criticized the resumption of air traffic as it takes the country away from the “European perspective”.
