“I think that the air defense system will be put into operation on the territory of Ukraine in about seven to eight weeks,” RIA Novosti reports on the minister’s words.
Tajani has already stated that Italy, in cooperation with France, is completing work to send the Samp/T air defense system. According to media reports, Rome and Paris plan to send a Samp/T battery with Aster-30 anti-aircraft missiles for value of 800 million euros to Kyiv.
Earlier, Tajani said that Rome would not supply offensive weapons to Kyiv. He called the situation in Ukraine difficult and stressed that everyone is working for peace. “We, as the parliament decided, are ready to supply defensive weapons,” the politician said. He added that Italy has nothing against the Russian people, but only defends the independence of Ukraine.
