British actor Jack O’Connell will play Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, in an upcoming biopic about the singer’s life. O’Connell starred in movies like “71,” “Lady Chatterley’s Lover,” and the TV series “Skins.” NME writes about it.
Winehouse married Fielder-Civil in 2007. They were married for two years.
Filming for the biopic “Back To Black” (the title references one of Winehouse’s most famous songs) began filming last week. In the main role – Marisa Abela, known for the TV series “Industry”.
It was previously revealed that Lesley Manville has joined the cast as Winehouse’s maternal grandmother, while Eddie Marsan will play Mitch Winehouse, the singer’s father.
The film, written by Matt Greenhalgh, tells how an aspiring jazz singer from north London became a superstar, then tragically died at the age of 27. The project was produced by Alison Owen, Debra Hayward and Tracey Seaward. Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Gray and Becoming John Lennon).
Earlier, Sony Pictures shared an excerpt from the biopic about the popular American singer Whitney Houston I Wanna Dance with Somebody (“I want to dance with someone”). The film opened in the United States on December 21.
