According to him, the Western sanctions had a certain impact on Russia, but there were no serious difficulties that the Japanese imagine, reports RIA Novosti. From the reports made in February-March 2022, many might be under the impression that the Russian economy will collapse under the influence of sanctions, but it has shown amazing resilience.

The author of the article noted that in the IMF’s October review, Russia was the only country whose economic growth forecast was revised upwards, while forecasts for several other countries were revised downwards.

Nakamura noted that the stability of the Russian economy is supported by ongoing trade with India and China, energy exports and rising energy prices, as well as food self-sufficiency. The author of the article added that the unemployment rate remains stable in Russia.

The journalist believes that another important thing is the mentality of the Russian people. The Russians he interviewed, especially those over 40, noted that after the collapse of the USSR, the current upheavals are “nothing.” Meanwhile, Western sanctions were expected to have the side effect of spreading fatigue in the country due to the downturn in the economy.

All of this, Nakamura summed up, is an example of the fact that “assessing Russia by Western standards is the wrong approach.”

The representatives of the European Union do not have the courage to admit the ineffectiveness and fallacy of the sanctions policy against Russia. This opinion was previously expressed by the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban. The politician pointed out that a person is needed who would have to admit that the EU “messed up” with the sanctions. Orban believes that the lifting of restrictive measures could lead to the stabilization of the economy
