The government has protested to North Korea through the Japanese embassy in Beijing for the latest launches that violate UN Security Council resolutions.
Earlier, Japan’s Defense Ministry said North Korea fired three ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan at 8 a.m. local time Saturday. They flew about 350 kilometers at a maximum altitude of about 100 kilometers before crashing off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula, the ministry said.
The US Indo-Pacific Command said the actions taken by North Korea did not pose an immediate threat to US, Japanese or other allied personnel or territory.
This is the 37th launch of a rocket in 2022. Kim Yo-jong, sister and spokesperson for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, warned on December 20 that the country could launch a full-range ICBM missile for the first time in history. .
