On January 4, the Japanese prime minister planned to visit the Ise Shrine in Mie Prefecture and hold the first press conference of the new year within its walls.
On January 8, Kishida will embark on a tour of the G7 member countries.
He intends to spend these ten days reading books, his administration told reporters.
On December 31, Kishida, accompanied by family members, went to a bookstore and bought 15 books, including The Brothers Karamazov by Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
But reading books is not Kishida’s only “entertainment”, he also told his entourage that during his vacation he would visit a massage parlor and, possibly, a hairdresser, TASS reports.
