According to the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), Kamila Valieva has committed an anti-doping rule violation. The result of her on the day of sampling (December 25, 2021) was canceled, due to which the athlete is deprived of the gold medal of the Russian Championship, which was held on that day in St. Petersburg. She writes about this “Kommersant”.
No other sanctions will be imposed on Valieva, as she is “not at fault”; at that time, the figure skater was not yet sixteen years old, which means that she was in the category of “protected athletes.”
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said: “WADA has requested a copy of the full reasoned decision, which it will review in conjunction with the case file to determine whether the decision is consistent with the provisions of the World Anti-Doping Code. However, based on elements of the case with which the AMA is already familiar, the agency is concerned by the finding of “no fault or negligence.”
The organization added that they will exercise “without hesitation” their right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, depending on the situation.
During the Russian Championships, WADA found traces of trimetazidine, a banned drug, in Kamila Valieva’s sample. After the Beijing Olympics, the results were published. The AMA demanded to disqualify Valieva for four years.
Earlier in Sweden, they demanded to cancel the master classes of figure skater Alexandra Trusova. They were supposed to pass at the end of August 2022.
