Katy Perry sold the rights to her music to Litmus Music for $225 million. As part of the agreement, the distributor will be able to sell five albums that the singer released between 2008 and 2020. This was reported by People.

We are talking about the albums “One of the Boys”, “Teenage Dream”, “Prism”, “Witness” and “Smile”. Litmus Music was co-founded by former Capitol Records president Dan McCarroll.

“Katy Perry is a creative force who has had a profound influence on music, television, film and philanthropy. “It is an honor for me to collaborate with her again and help Litmus handle her incredible repertoire,” she said in a statement.

Recently, artists are increasingly selling the copyrights to their songs. For example, in January 2023, Justin Bieber sold the rights to all of his songs to the British company Hipgnosis Songs Capital for $200 million. Last year, Justin Timberlake, Nile Rodgers, Kenny Chesney, Neil Young and Nelly Furtado also contributed tracks to Hipgnosis.

This summer, Katy Perry revealed that she has a lot of new music in the works. The pop star hasn’t released a song since 2020. We talk in more detail here.
