“According to the investigation, from the end of August 2024 to the present, citizens have been turning to medical institutions in the city of Baksan with signs of intestinal infection and food poisoning,” the press service of the department noted.
The investigation was conducted under special supervision at the regional department of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Kabardino-Balkaria.
Earlier it was reported that 212 people with acute intestinal infection were admitted to Baksan hospitals, 70 of them were hospitalized. Five educational institutions in the city, including schools and kindergartens, temporarily stopped operating.
Experts are now searching for the source of the contamination and examining water samples.
