The administrations of the Ayano-Maisky, Tuguro-Chumikansky and Okhotsk regions will receive one million rubles for these purposes. 70 percent of the required amount was allocated by the regional budget, the rest – the investments of the municipalities themselves.
“The money will help increase livestock, buy the necessary equipment, veterinary medicines, monkeys, as well as guarantee the protection of the herd from predators,” said Elena Talalay, head of the livestock department of the Ministry of Agriculture.
There are 12 reindeer breeding farms in the Khabarovsk Territory, in which there are about 3.7 thousand animals. Since 2016, support has been provided to those employed in this type of activity in the region. In particular, grants of up to 1.5 million rubles and compensation of up to 75 percent of the cost of acquiring young animals are provided.
