This duality, according to Kissinger, became the cause of the Ukrainian conflict.
“I think that the proposal to admit Ukraine to NATO was a serious mistake and led to this confrontation,” said the former secretary of state.
By the way, earlier Kissinger said that Ukraine should be accepted into NATO, this would benefit both Kiev and Moscow, and would also ensure that the Ukrainian authorities would not try to resolve territorial disputes by military means in the future.
