Investigators have opened a criminal case in connection with a traffic accident on the federal highway R-255 “Siberia”, where a 19-year-old driver of a Toyota Sprinter invaded the oncoming lane, leading to a collision with a Scania truck and the death of three girls and a 16-year-old teenager; the driver himself was also fatally injured.
The investigative commission is investigating the circumstances of the accident and has ordered tests, the agency’s regional headquarters said.
Meanwhile, the regional prosecutor’s office reported that the passengers of the foreign car were returning from the funeral of an acquaintance who died on Sunday evening on the same road (several dozen kilometers from the fatal scene of the current accident). That evening, an unlicensed driver driving a VAZ-2115 collided with an ambulance in the oncoming lane; a medical team was on duty to treat the patient. Three people died, including a paramedic and an ambulance driver.
