“We analysed the number of hours devoted to the study of natural science subjects in 1956 and now, back then in primary school eight hours a week were devoted to physics and in secondary school 7.5 hours,” the minister explained. – In 1956, mathematics was taught for a total of 59.5 hours at all levels, today – 66. At the same time, the level of natural science education throughout the country is today quite high in all schools, regardless of where they are located – in a big city or in a village.”
Kravtsov noted that this is largely ensured by unified programs.
“Since 2023, our schools will once again be developing unified basic educational programs. It is no longer the case that when a child moves and transfers to another school, he finds himself in a completely different system with new requirements,” Kravtsov stressed. That was back then when we restored the Soviet education system.”
The head of the Ministry of Education and Science also drew attention to the fact that in today’s school, absolutely all subjects are important.
“We will focus not only on subjects that are currently included in the Unified State Exam, but also on fine arts, labor, the basics of security and defense of the homeland, physical education and music,” the minister said.
