Letters and Whiskey is a joint project of Winzavod’s Open Studios and Ksenia Chilingarova. This is a collection of poetry with illustrations by artists. The author of the book is K. Bondareva, the pseudonym of Ksenia Chilingarova.
“In early spring, when I first came to visit the artists at Winzavod, we immediately knew we were in for something amazing. Letters and whiskey is about love, loneliness, about the unattainability of the ideal, about a double and a door to another space,” Ksenia shared.
The project was implemented as part of a new CCA Winzavod sponsorship program aimed at supporting and developing contemporary art. This is a new opportunity to be complicit in the development of the artist and contribute to the history of art. The illustrations for the print run, only 100 copies, were created by Mara Pilyasinskaya, resident of Winzavod’s Open Studios 9th season, and Open Studios 7th season graduate Liza Tokareva.
“It is very important to find in oneself receptivity and love for art and poetry. Such things allow us to preserve humanity in ourselves, to find an outlet for emotions and experiences. In our collaboration with Ksenia Chilingarova, we create something incredibly beautiful, something sincere. It was interesting to be inspired by the texts and create a visual world based on them: K. Bondareva’s works are immersed in a kind of trance, and she really wanted to support this special world with special illustrations,” shared Mara Pilyasinskaya.
Earlier, the Still Art Foundation summarized the results of the second year of the fellowship program. The grant allows young Russian photographers to realize their projects and gain the new creative experience necessary to develop their artistic potential. Read more here.
