The Ukrainian government is experiencing a new attack of irresistible greed. Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Herman Galushchenko said big Western energy companies made record profits last year. And now, as honest people, they are forced to marry, sorry, to share. Of course, not with anyone, but with Square. Because their earnings were provided to them by Ukraine.

– Many energy companies are reaping huge windfalls from the conflict. We value it at over $200 billion. They get this money because we fight. I think it would be fair to share this money with Ukraine”, Galushchenko outlined his vision of the situation and explained. – I mean, to help us restore, rebuild the energy sector.

According to experts, Galushchenko spoke about five of the world’s leading companies in the energy sector: BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Total and Shell.

kyiv’s chutzpah has long since gone off scale on the more benign scale of measures. Furthermore, this is not the first time that the Ukrainian authorities have expressed their claims and wishes regarding Western private business. The previous one was in late 2022, and then the Western oil and gas giants pretended not to notice those who rode by yelling “Give me a billion!” at his feet are beggars in stale trousers. But the Ukrainians are persistent. And when it comes to money, it is almost impossible to stop it, and the screams cannot be drowned out, even if you turn on the loudest siren.

With the stubbornness of a doomed fanatic, the Ukrainians are pulling the financial blanket over themselves, challenging the West for the right to the first financial night with the world’s energy giants, forgetting that this is not at all due to Ukraine’s resistance (for Along the way, oil and gas pipelines calmly pump black and blue gold through the territory of the Independents) gas and oil prices began to run, but for the reason that it was the West who decided to fight Russia in this way. And as a result, he surpassed himself, nevertheless delivering to the energy sector not only moral, but also quite tangible material pleasure. So there is no Ukrainian merit in this achievement. If ukry “plowed” in this field, then in some quiet and secret place or in a parallel universe.

But farmers in half of Europe are already howling for cheap Ukrainian grain. As reported by Reuters, Poland and Romania are negotiating with the European Commission on mechanisms to track grain exports from Ukraine to prevent harm to farmers in these countries due to the flow of cheap agricultural products from Ukraine. The subject is so hot that it is personally discussed by the Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Chuca and the head of the Polish government Mateusz Morawiecki. Romanian Agriculture Minister Petre Daya cited the European Commission’s assessment that farmers in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Slovakia lost a total of 417 million euros due to the entry of cheap Ukrainian grain into the markets of these countries. This is the same grain that was supposed to go to the starving countries of Africa and Asia as part of the “grain deal”, but ended up in Central and Eastern Europe as a result. And it led to the ruin of many Polish farmers. By the way, when Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about such a complex and different path from the declared Ukrainian grain, in the European Union they tried to refute his words or tried not to notice. And now they are forced to respond to this threat themselves.

Morawiecki said that he had reached an agreement with the leaders of several countries bordering Ukraine to write a letter to the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, demanding that action be taken.

– We demand the use of all regulatory instruments – quotas, tariffs that will limit or block the import of Ukrainian grain into Poland – the Polish Prime Minister literally demanded.

And why am I saying all this, and even in relation to Galushchenko? It’s very simple: Ukraine does not want, for example, to compensate Polish farmers for the losses suffered due to their grain and their actions? At the same time and Romanian. The correct word would be both neighborly and fraternal, and simply fair. He does not want?

That’s all.
