Most of the guests in the upcoming season, as usual, are expected in the Issyk-Kul region. Here more than a thousand boarding houses, hotels and sanatoriums are ready to receive tourists. And in Issyk-Kul, tourists are waiting for beautiful views of 150 picturesque valleys and mountainous areas.
No less interesting and informative, as promised in the republic, will be tours to other regions of Kyrgyzstan – to the Sulaiman-Too mountain, the Burana tower and other monuments of history, culture, religion or architecture.
“After the pandemic, the tourism sector has fully recovered from the crisis,” says the deputy head of the department, Kyyal Kenzhematova. “All our partners, both domestic and foreign, as well as private structures, were able to carry out comprehensive activities, and most importantly, effective work aimed at preparing the season. I would like to remind you that according to the country’s development strategy for 2018-2040, the tourism industry is recognized as a priority. Now we receive many requests to visit the republic, and we are very glad that every year there are more and more.
The vast majority of tourists, according to official sources, come to Kyrgyzstan to relax on the Issyk-Kul coast. Spa treatment at the spas located on the lake is also popular. The second place in popularity is firmly occupied by ecotourism. And here a special place is occupied by medical tourism, in particular, treatment with koumiss.
– It began to develop actively only in the last fifteen years, – emphasizes the doctor of one of the mountain sanatoriums Elnura Okunbayeva. – Many people think that it is worth coming and just drinking koumiss, and all the sores will go away. But this may not always lead to the expected effect. It is important to choose a specific animal, observe the required level of fat content of mare’s milk, carry out tests, and only then proceed to the procedures. Recently, many guests from abroad began to come to us. I remember that in 2009 a woman from Georgia who was overweight came to us, because of which she had problems with her heart and blood pressure. We have selected the necessary course of treatment for her. A month later, the swelling disappeared, and her weight decreased by more than ten kilograms. The following year she returned with her husband and a friend of hers.
In third place in popularity among vacationers is mountaineering. Tens of groups of fans and professionals of this sport come to Kyrgyzstan. Most often – to climb the seven thousand.
According to the director of the St. Petersburg Mountaineering Association, Tatyana Timoshenko, several professional mountaineering groups from the northern Russian capital intend to visit Kyrgyzstan in 2023. They are preparing to climb Lenin Peak, as well as work on the Ala-Archa gorge. In addition, international competitions are planned.
By the way
According to the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Culture, Sports Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, more than six million people visited Kyrgyzstan in 2022. More than ten million guests from abroad are expected to arrive this coming year.
