Lanthimos’s “The Poor Miserables” took home the main prize at the Venice Film Festival

The Venice Film Festival announced the results of the screening. The jury recognized Yorgos Lanthimos’ film “The Poor and the Unfortunate” as best film. He received the main award – the Golden Lion.

The Silver Lion, award for best director, went to Matteo Garrone for the film I Am Captain. The Grand Jury Prize was awarded to the film “Evil Does Not Exist” by Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

The winners of the Volpi Cup were Peter Sarsgaard for Best Actor for Memento by Michel Franco and Cailee Spaeny for Best Actress for Priscilla by Sofia Coppola.

Pablo Larraín and Guillermo Calderón were awarded for best screenplay for the film “El Conde”. Agnieszka Holland’s “Green Border” received a special jury award and Seydoux Sarr won best young actor.
