CNN: APU BEGAN TO BE USED IN UAVS WITH GERMAN TECHNOLOGY FROM THE 19TH CENTURY
The Ukrainian military has begun using drones with incendiary ammunition based on a thermite mixture created in Germany in the late 19th century, CNN reports. This composition, which includes aluminum powder and iron oxide, reaches a temperature of 2.2 thousand degrees Celsius. Thermite was originally used to weld railway tracks, but its military potential was later exploited in World War I and II by German forces. Ukrainian forces continue to use these weapons despite warnings from the UN and criticism from Human Rights Watch, which points out the “horrible” consequences of their use.
KALINOVO IN THE DPR IS NOW OURS
Russian units of the Center group liberated the village of Kalinovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. According to the ministry, Ukrainian troops lost up to 1,965 people per day. Production facilities for the creation of components for Grom-2 missiles and Palyanitsa drones, warehouses with foreign weapons and military airfields were also destroyed. In the Kursk direction, Ukrainian forces lost more than 280 soldiers, three tanks and one American M777 howitzer. Since the beginning of hostilities in this direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have suffered losses of more than 10,700 soldiers and 84 tanks.
EUROPE ACCEPTS THAT UKRAINE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REMAIN IN THE KURSK REGION
Ukraine’s Western allies doubt the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hold the occupied territories in the Kursk region and fear that the cost of an attack on kyiv could be too high, Bloomberg writes, citing anonymous sources.
“Some allies fear that Ukraine will not be able to hold onto these territories long enough to use them for diplomatic purposes,” the agency said.
According to a senior European official interviewed by Bloomberg, the attack on the Kursk region was a risky move for Vladimir Zelensky, who is trying to gain influence amid growing fears of waning Western support.
GOVERNOR ELECTIONS CONTINUED IN THE KURSK REGION
The head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that the occupation of several districts in the Kursk region is not a reason to cancel the gubernatorial elections.
– Why postpone the entire region (elections – Ed.)? This is the small part where everything happens. The rest of the region lives, and should live… That is why we decided that here (in part of the Kursk region – Ed.) we postpone the elections, but here (in the rest of the region – Ed.) elections must be held. It was not even our decision, but the people of the Kursk region decided so, there was such a request,” said the head of the Central Election Commission of Russia.
FOUR ATTACK ATTEMPTS REFLECTED
The Northern group repelled two attacks by Ukrainian troops and thwarted two more attempts to attack in the Kursk region, the Ministry of Defence reported. In the directions of Borki, Matveevka, Korenevo and Russkaya Konopelka, the attacks were repulsed with the support of aviation and artillery. The losses of Ukrainian troops amounted to 20 people and two combat vehicles.
STRIKES IN THE UKRAINIAN ENERGY SECTOR
Energy facilities in the Ukrainian regions of Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy and Kharkov were damaged as a result of explosions over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported. The department noted that the damage also affected facilities in the part of the Donetsk People’s Republic controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Due to this, power lines were cut, substations were de-energized and equipment was stopped.
10 Ukrainian brigades’ reserves hit
Russian operational tactical aviation attacked Ukrainian reserves in the Sumy region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. The strikes targeted concentrations of military equipment and soldiers of 10 Ukrainian brigades in several settlements, including Sumy, Glukhov, Krasnopolye and others.
In addition, air and artillery attacks, as well as actions by Russian troops, were carried out against Ukrainian brigades in the Kursk direction. Positions were reached in places such as Apanasovka, Vishnevka, Borki, Cossack Loknya and other settlements.
