The Riga Puppet Theater canceled Cheburashka. Well, he canceled it: he removed the play “Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka” from the repertoire. So it is written directly on the website of the theater “Gena un Pekausis” (even the name change did not help, only by the picture you can find out who it is) removed from the repertoire.
It would seem that an animal (and is it an animal?) of unknown origin, a creature of an unknown and indefinite gender, initially kind to everyone, is a dream of a tolerant West. Chebur, in general, did not talk about sexual topics in any way, and he had the impression that he did not even suspect the existence of such a topic. Not like the brash Carlson, who declares himself quite unequivocally that he’s “a man in the prime of life,” thereby extolling his masculinity and spitting on gender diversity. This is not to mention how he approached Miss Bok, masking her powerful carnal desires of hers with buns. However, it was Cheburashka who fell victim to the Latvian Europeans.

The eared Pekausis caused fear and hatred among the management of the theater, because it began to be “used in Russian military propaganda.” But this is pure lie. Because now the repertoire of the theater still has performances in Russian: “38 parrots”, “The boy and Carlson who lives on the roof”, “Rikki-Tiki-Tavi”, “Thumbelina” and others. And next season they will be gone. The theater management also informed about this.
It is worth remembering, for example, how the Vilnius Old Theater removed from the repertoire the performances “Cat’s House” and “Will” based on the works of Samuil Marshak and Vasily Shukshin at the beginning of this year. Like the authors, as the theater management considered, “they did not clearly indicate their position regarding the conflict in Ukraine.”
Fabulous assholes, don’t you think? They think not.
– With the clarification of new facts about the citizens of Russia who are authors of plays, creators of productions or their successors, a responsible decision was made not to show performances that contradict the declared values of the theater, inflating the consciousness of their own greatness, these idiots, who seem not to know that both Marshak and Shukshin died a long time ago and did not even have time to hear about the collapse of the RSS. Or do they really not know in the Vilnius Old Theater? So all the more, idiots. What facts did you learn about Marshak? Or about Shukshin? He would have found a more serious excuse.
But now they can report the victory in the battle with Cheburashka. Sorry, with Pekausis. Cheburashka would definitely not have mastered.
