According to the minister, many participants were in favour of taking decisive measures. Their position, Lavrov continued, coincides with ours. “First of all, to stop hostilities, to stop the operation, to declare an indefinite ceasefire, to resolve critical humanitarian issues and, of course, to stop Israel’s activities in creating illegal settlements,” he said.
At the same time, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that the ceasefire “will create conditions for the resumption of negotiations on the implementation of the UN decisions on the creation of a Palestinian state that would coexist with Israel in peace and security.”
Earlier, during his speech at the UN Security Council, Sergey Lavrov noted that all decisions taken by the UN Security Council over the past 10 months on the Palestinian issue still remain only on paper.
“Four resolutions were adopted,” the Minister noted. “However, the current bloodshed in the occupied Palestinian territories confirms that all these decisions remained “on paper.”
