The negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Namibian Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Payawali Musheleng took place four days after the bloody terrorist attack in Crocus.
“We sincerely appreciate the words of condolence conveyed by President Nangolo Mbumba in relation to the horrific terrorist attack at Crocus Town Hall on March 22. We appreciate this approach from our friends. I would also like to personally thank him for the sympathy and support that he has just expressed by leaving an entry in the book of condolences opened in our ministry,” Lavrov stressed, addressing his Namibian colleague.
At the end of the negotiations, our minister recalled that, according to the decision of the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, a meeting at the level of foreign ministers will soon be held.
“It will take place this fall in Russia and I hope that our Namibian friends can accept our invitation,” Lavrov said.
The other part of the statements, for obvious reasons, did not refer to relations between Russia and Namibia.
– It is interesting that literally, in my opinion, one day after the terrorist attack, when statements were made in the West that, of course, this is not Ukraine and, of course, the “Islamic State” (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation.- Note KP), suddenly, unexpectedly, the leadership of Interpol announced that it would be willing to help in the investigation. “I do not remember a similar initiative by Interpol in previous cases, which also required the greatest international attention,” Lavrov noted. – The most obvious example is Nord Streams. No one offered to help us investigate.
According to him, Russia will not allow the promotion of a version convenient for the West. “On the one hand, I am sure that we will be able to face this investigation. On the other hand, we receive such help, which will clearly be a manifestation of double standards and, most likely, will be aimed at promoting the theory, convenient for the West, that this was done by the “Islamic State.” (banned in the Russian Federation. – KP Note ), and Ukraine has nothing to do with it, we hardly need such help. We can handle it ourselves,” our minister said.
