Legendary British guitarist Jeff Beck dies

British guitarist Jeff Beck has died at the age of 78. This was announced by the musician’s family on his Twitter account.

“After an unexpected infection with bacterial meningitis on January 10, he passed away peacefully. Her family asks for privacy as they mourn this great loss,” the family said in a statement.

Jeff Beck was born on June 24, 1944. Early in his musical career, the guitarist became a member of The Yardbirds, replacing Eric Clapton. In 1967, he founded his own band, The Jeff Beck Group, which also included singer Rod Stewart and bassist Roni Wood (now part of The Rolling Stones). And in the mid-70s, Beck began to perform solo.

Beck recorded several albums that went platinum, he participated in the recording of Jon Bon Jovi’s first solo album in 1990. His last work was the album “18”, created together with Johnny Depp in June 2022. During his career, Jeff Beck received the Grammy Award seven times, was inducted twice (in 1992 and 2009) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
