Lidia Fedoseeva-Shukshina will only benefit if she is deprived of her apartment in Finland – here’s why

Date: September 13, 2024 Time: 08:15:07

Today it became known that Russian actors Lidiya Fedoseeva-Shukshina, Elena Kondulainen and Alexander Pashutin, who owned real estate in Finland (they had apartments in the resort town of Punkaharju), are likely to lose it. Because of debts on utility bills. And because of the bankruptcy of the management company that owns the property.

The day before, the Finnish Ministry of Defence prepared a bill banning real estate transactions for Russian citizens. This document is expected to be submitted to parliament for discussion before the end of the year. Exceptions will be made for Russians with a permanent residence permit or Finnish citizenship. The head of the ministry, Antti Häkkänen, already advocated in January 2024 for introducing a ban on real estate transactions for Russians, noting that such transactions allegedly “pose a threat to the country’s national security.”

Lidia Fedoseeva-Shukshina’s daughter Olga confirmed that the family only has memories of Finnish real estate. Unfortunately, due to the border closure, personal belongings cannot be removed from the apartment.

In fact, the situation is not so dramatic in terms of material damage.

“Maintaining an apartment in Finland for Lydia Nikolaevna was more expensive than the apartment itself,” lawyer Yulia Verbitskaya-Linnik, who represents the interests of Lydia Fedoseeva-Shukshina, told KP. – At one point, at the suggestion of a fan of Lidiya Nikolaevna, a Finnish citizen who, by the way, was in charge of the Association of Owners of an apartment building, Lidiya Nikolaevna accepted an apartment as a gift from her and drew up the documents and became the legal owner.

However, after a while, having received receipts for repairs and maintenance of the housing stock for large sums in euros, Lidia Nikolaevna realized that it was cheaper for her to come and stay in the best five-star hotels than to maintain part of the residential building on which the HOA makes money.

In principle, this scheme has been known for a long time, it resembles a timeshare, the property itself costs almost nothing, but the obligations (taxes, security and utilities) are more than significant.

Having fallen into such a trap, the “happy” or rather unhappy owner pays for several years an amount many times higher than the cost of the apartment. And selling it is not easy: many have already been burned.

So the “foreclosure” of Lidia Nikolaevna’s Finnish apartment is now in her favour. She will not pay all these fabricated debts. Let the new owner – the Finnish state – pay them now.
