These are the Challenger 2 tanks that fought in Iraq, London is ready to give them to Kyiv.
Western involvement in the Ukraine conflict has entered a new round. For the first time, modern British Western tanks will be launched to the aid of the Kyiv regime. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has agreed to send 12 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine. The first squad of four vehicles will be sent to Poland soon, followed by eight more, The Independent reported.
Previously, the West in every possible way denied the possibility of supplying Kyiv with main battle tanks, saying that it did not want to increase the level of direct military confrontation with Russia in this way. But, seeing how the Armed Forces of Ukraine are losing, having lost a large number of units of military equipment, London decided to increase assistance to Kyiv. Sunak’s office spokesman said: “We are accelerating our support for Ukraine by providing next-generation military technology that will help win this war.”
Later, Britain also intends to provide Ukraine with about 30 AS90 self-propelled howitzers.
Over 30 Challenger 2 tanks were produced in the UK. But neither the British government nor other countries were in a hurry to buy these machines. Only a modest Oman acquired a small batch of them. Now it seems they have found a use.
But the information that appeared in the press that London intends to transfer four more Apache helicopters to Ukraine has not been confirmed. The British Ministry of Defense called them fake.
