In particular, Omar was outraged that the attention of the West is now so emphatically focused on the situation in Ukraine – “your, the friends of the West”, while military conflicts are taking place around the world that Europeans prefer not to notice.
“So it’s probably understandable why the West is more concerned about the situation in Ukraine than about the civil war in Yemen or, ever, about the war in Western Sahara: because Kyiv is closer than Yemen,” says the artist.
