“I am sure that the attacks were directed using Elon Musk’s potential,” said Maduro, whose speech was broadcast by VTV.
The President also noted that these attacks damaged the country’s electoral system. In particular, according to him, the connection between polling stations was interrupted and they were unable to transmit data to the National Electoral Council (analogous to the Central Electoral Commission).
Earlier, Venezuela’s National Electoral Council declared Nicolás Maduro the winner of the presidential election. More than 51% of voters voted for him. Second place went to opposition leader Edmundo González, for whom 44% of Venezuelans voted.
Several countries in the region have said they will not recognise the election results. Opposition protests and clashes with police have broken out in some cities across the country.
