On October 10, the independent film distributor Mainstream will release Sidonie, a romantic film about the beauty of life starring Isabelle Huppert and August Diehl, in Japan in Russia. Elise Girard’s new film has become a modern interpretation of the cult film “Ghost” with Patrick Swayze. The premiere of “Sidoni in Japan” took place at the Venice Film Festival.
The premiere of the film will take place on October 6 at the Khudozhestvenny cinema. Special screenings will be held at Moscow’s Zotov Center and the Pioneer Cinema, as well as in St. Petersburg at Angleterre and Lenfilm, the cultural and recreational center of Novosibirsk Pobeda, Khabarovsk and Yekaterinburg.
“Sidoni in Japan” for Elise Girard became a way of talking to the viewer about hope and rebirth, about how love awaits you even when you no longer expect to find it. The main characters, Sidonie and Kenzo, are the embodiment of France and Japan. With the help of the film, the director confessed her love for Japan, an understandable and foreign country, in which traditional culture and modernity are combined. Japan becomes a scene where two opposites meet and find common ground.
Let us remind you that on August 1 Mainstream released the film “Taurus” by Tim Sutton in Russian distribution. The main role in the film about the dark side of fame was played by Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly). The world premiere of the film took place at the Berlin Film Festival.
