According to him, the military is frightened by the new tightening of responsibilities for non-compliance with the orders of bill No. 8271. In the Soledar area, they arbitrarily abandon their positions, turning themselves in to military law enforcement, he said.
Therefore, Ukrainian soldiers are trying to save their lives and get away with a relatively short prison term, as the new bill will greatly toughen the punishment for desertion, Marochko said.
Earlier it became known that the 128th mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces entered a pocket of fire and lost about 250 people near Soledar. On December 16 and 17, Ukrainian attack aircraft attempted to conduct reconnaissance in force and attacked the positions of the Russian Armed Forces in the Yakovlevka-Belogorovka-Veseloye triangle area. Here, however, they fell into a trap: artillery cut off the offensive and dealt powerful blows to the attackers.
