Matvienko emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue for the development of relations between the two countries, and also recalled the fruitful visit of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel to Russia last year for both states.
“We thank Cuba for supporting Russian initiatives on international platforms, including inter-parliamentary ones, as well as for the consistent position in the UN vote on anti-Russian resolutions imposed by the West,” Matvienko said. Russia, in turn, also constantly advocates for the lifting of illegal sanctions against Cuba, the Russian politician added.
After the talks, Mesa said the meeting confirmed the mutual intention to deepen relations.
