On Friday, December 23, the executive committee of the Russian Football Union will meet to discuss the possibility of moving from UEFA to the Asian Football Confederation.
UEFA is categorically against such a move by Russia. According to “Championat”, the organization does not want to lose Russia, even despite the current situation. At the moment, the national teams of the Russian Federation and the clubs of our country are deprived of the right to play in international tournaments.
It is reported that UEFA is confident that after the political situation is reduced, Russian football will be able to re-integrate into European football. Furthermore, the organization believes that Russia’s transition to the Asian Football Confederation could seriously damage UEFA’s reputation.
