On Friday, the Court of Appeal of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) held a hearing on the resumption of the trial in the financial fraud case. As a result, the FIGC prosecutor’s office deprived Juventus of 15 points – the Old Lady fell from third place in the national championship to tenth place. In addition, several Turin club officials were suspended from football.
According to foreign colleagues, UEFA may not grant Juventus a license to participate in European competitions due to the concealment of the true roster of the players. In September last year, the Old Lady took it upon herself to restore Financial Fair Play status within three years, as well as pay a €3.5m fine, limit the squad to 23 players and acquire newcomers only in case of a positive financial balance. If Juventus do not meet these criteria after a period of three years, the Italians will have to pay a fine of 23 million euros and risk missing one of the seasons in European competition.
UEFA plans to make a decision in June, but the organization may have problems with this due to the analysis of the Italian investigation, the page count of which exceeds 14,000 pages.
