On Wednesday, the Russian met with the German representative, Alexander Zverev. Both tennis players achieved victories in their first matches. Medvedev beat his compatriot Andrei Rublev and Zverev defeated the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
The first set was a very fierce fight. The opponents did not want to give in and a tiebreaker was necessary to determine who was the strongest. But it wasn’t easy either, and Medvedev finally took the victory 7:6 (9:7).
Zverev did not give up and tried to change the course of the match, but the Russian left him no chance. In the second game, Medvedev acted confidently and at the right moment made the decisive break for 6:4.
Thanks to this success, the Russian secured access to the semifinals.
