On Friday, in the semifinals, the former racket player in the world Medvedev met the representative of Canada, Felix Auger-Aliassime. Last week in Rotterdam, these tennis players met at the quarterfinal stage, and then the Russian won in straight sets: 6:2, 6:4.
This time Auger-Aliassime put up a more stubborn resistance. In the first game, Medvedev managed to make a break, which helped him tip the scales in his favor – 6: 4.
The second set turned out to be more stubborn. The rivals reached a tie-break, where the Russian was able to lead the match to victory – 7:6 (9/7).
In the decisive match, Medvedev will meet the former first racket in the world, the British Andy Murray.
The winners of this tournament at different times were the Russians Nikolai Davydenko and Andrey Rublev. Medvedev has yet to win a trophy in Doha.
