Merlin sells two shopping centers to the Hungarian Indotek on the Mediterranean coast

Date: April 24, 2024 Time: 08:04:37

The Hungarian real estate fund Grupo Indotek has acquired two shopping centers, one located in Valencia and the other in Barcelona, from the Socimi Merlin Properties, without disclosing the importation of the transaction. In a statement, the fund has detailed that, with this operation, it seeks to consolidate its presence in the country. On the other hand, it intends to substantially increase the area of its commercial assets in the Iberian Peninsula.

Despite wanting to increase the spaces to work, the group already had several supermarkets on the Peninsula, but also a park of medium-sized areas and up to six hotels located in various locations on the Mediterranean coast.

The shopping centers acquired are, specifically, the Factory Bonaire de Aldaia, which can be found in the city of Valencia. This shopping center has about 60 stores that together add up to a commercial area of approximately 11,000 square meters. Although this does not mean that it is the total space available or useful, since the place has the potential to enable another 7,000 additional square meters.

On the other hand, we find another, the so-called Vilamarina de Viladecans Shopping Center, located in the city of Barcelona. It has approximately 80 stores and a huge commercial area, totaling more than 32,000 square meters.

Agreements to achieve potential

The director of International Transactions and Asset Management of the Indotek Group, Krisztián Hornok, has signed that the company seeks to strengthen its presence in the Spanish ‘retail’ sector. They do this step as part of a “strategic move” to invest in high-potential assets, in this case, in shopping centers.

For his part, the director of the Indotek Group for Spain, Federico Hens, pointed out that the properties acquired will benefit from the company’s success model in repositioning and renewing outdated commercial assets.
