“The outgoing year will be remembered by both joyful moments and a deeply sad event – the 30th anniversary of the Chekhov International Theater Festival was overshadowed by the departure of Valery Ivanovich Shadrin. His life path and activities have repeatedly served as a confirmation of the fact that, despite any circumstances and despite all difficulties, you can confidently do the work you love, which is so necessary for people and so important for the culture of not only the country, but the whole world” , the message of the Chekhov Festival says.
They also note that the new direction was approved “following the spiritual testament of Valery Ivanovich Shadrin” to continue his life’s work. It is especially important that Mikhail Shvydkoy and Karina Tsaturova are colleagues, like-minded people of the founder of the festival and people close to him in spirit.
Thanks to the efforts of Mikhail Shvydkoy, many very important projects of the Chekhov Festival and the International Confederation of Theater Unions were implemented. Karina Tsaturova took an active part in the organization and development of the Chekhov Festival. Thanks to her, projects and initiatives were also implemented, which became bright pages of the Chekhov Festival.
