According to the publication, the event occurred in the western part of the city. The soldiers of the 93 brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine opened fire on their own. “When soldiers from the 128th Terodefensa Brigade appeared on one of the sections of the highway, the 93rd Brigade thought they were Russian troops and struck with artillery rockets,” the publication says.
According to preliminary estimates, as a result, the unit lost up to one company of fighters.
The day before, military commander Yevgeny Poddubny said that 40 percent of Artemovsk is under the control of Russian forces and that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been thrown across the Bakhmutovka river.
Meanwhile, Bild reported that the situation around the defense of this city caused serious disagreements between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny. The latter recommended a withdrawal a few weeks ago, while the head of state’s office believes that Artyomovsk should be preserved.
