In the section on incompatibilities with the IMV, it is detailed that “as of January 1, 2023, the condition of beneficiary of this non-contributory economic benefit will be incompatible with the welfare pensions that are still being received and will be extinguished when recognized by Becias. The extension of the assistance pension will take effect on the same date that the Minimum Vital Income has economic effects”. From what reached this point, it is worth asking what a welfare pension is.
Well, they are those that today are included in non-contributory pensions in its two aspects, that is, retirement or disability. These social benefits depend directly on Social Security and are intended for very specific cases.
New employment incentive for IMV beneficiaries
There is no doubt that this recently launched year will mark a before and after for those people who receive this aid designed to get out of the economic situation, marked by a high rate of inflation, which in January closed with 5.8%. And it is that, the beneficiaries, for the first time, can join the labor market while collecting the Minimum Vital Income. And it is that, the Government of Spain, has launched, the employment incentive, whose main objective is that the recipients of this state aid find a job, although without losing the IMV immediately, if not progressively until they fully return to a job position. Therefore, this non-contributory aid, unlike what happened in previous years, adds money to the income obtained, so it will be higher than what the worker would have obtained without the employment incentive.

In 2023, the IMV reaches 565.37 euros per month for a single adult. This amount is increased by 22% if the recipient has a degree of disability equal to or greater than 65%. For the cohabitation unit, the previous amount increased by 30% per additional member from the second, with a maximum of 220%.
