This was announced by Deputy Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Elvira Nurgalieva at the session “Priority 2030: Ensuring technological sovereignty and development of the Far East”, organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum.
According to the Deputy Minister, in 2024, according to preliminary data, the number of applicants from other regions and countries coming to study at Far Eastern universities will increase by 1.5 times.
The outflow of educational migrants from the Far Eastern Federal District – when young people enter universities located in other regions of the country – decreased by 3% last year, he added. The positive dynamic will continue in 2024.
He noted that the positive trends are the effect of the current trajectory in the Far East of the federal program “Priority 2030. Far East”, thanks to which universities received additional funding for the implementation of university development projects synchronized with the development strategy of the Far East, regions, enterprises and their real needs for specialists, including in new industries that are emerging in the Far East, in particular in the petrochemical industry.
“Our goal is to defeat educational migration and attract new applicants from other regions by 2030,” said Elvira Nurgalieva.
