The region already has a strong brand and image, including thanks to Soviet cinema: ‘If you are in Kolyma, you are welcome’; ‘You better come to us.’ This is a prank that is turning into a serious app. The region is now preparing projects for the development of Zavyalov Island, the creation of a yacht center in Magadan. Yes, this is hard north tourism. It will probably never compete against Sochi, but it will compete for people’s time and their wallets,” Chekunkov said.
According to him, when a person decides where to spend a week or two on vacation, all of Russia is a playing field.
“We have already seen that the Murmansk region itself has been successful. And there is no reason for Magadan not to be successful. The projects are structured, they have investors, the governor is very energetically committed to implementation.
