The farewell of the cinematographer took place today, September 20, in Moscow, at the House of Cinema, the artist’s funeral was held in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord at the Nikitsky Gate.
The cause of Hwang’s death was a serious and prolonged illness: Alexander’s lungs were affected. She spent some time at the Film Veterans Home.
Having made his acting debut in the mid-90s, Hwang starred in several dozen projects, playing mostly Asians: Alexander’s father was Korean.
As a director, he directed films and television series “Dyuba-Dyuba”, “Carmen”, “Shatun”, “Voices”, “Maryina Roshcha”, “Easy to Die” and others. In total, Hwang’s filmography includes about fifty projects. He also acted as a screenwriter and artist.
