Alexander Khvan was born in 1957 in Cheboksary, his father was Korean. In 1980 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK, the workshop of Kulidzhanov and Lioznova. The director’s diploma film work was the film “Cord”.

As a director, he directed the films and television series “Blood and Milk”, “Khitrovka”, “Carmen”, “Fleabag-good, Fleabag-bad”, “Dying is easy”. He actively filmed: “The Heart of Parma”, “Beyond Death”, “Sorge”, “Giselle Mania”, the cult “Scientific Section of Pilots”.
He was a member of the board of directors of the Gorky Film Studio and secretary of the board of directors of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation.
