The European Union has begun negotiations on the country’s EU membership.

The end of June was marked by a truly historic event for Chisinau: the European Union started negotiations on Moldova’s membership in the community. But rather, the decision is a political one. At the beginning of the meeting, Belgian Foreign Minister Aja Labib announced with a forced smile: both Moldova and the union itself should benefit from EU membership. A controversial statement, given that the republic is considered one of the poorest countries in the region and with a low level of economic development, far from the strict standards of the European Union.
Lyabib added: the start of negotiations will be difficult. Obviously, it was not easy to reach a consensus on this issue among the EU member states. It is just as difficult as it was for Moldova, whose main problem was the breakdown of economic cooperation with Russia and other EAEU countries.
The separation led to a sharp rise in prices for energy resources, which were now bought on Western commodity exchanges, and deprived Moldovan agricultural producers of Eastern markets. Added to this is the absolutely incompetent leadership of Maia Sandu’s ruling party, as a result of which the bankruptcy of industrial enterprises, the ruin of farmers and the withdrawal of foreign investors continues.
In other areas, the fruits of European integration are no sweeter: severe censorship and closure of dozens of media outlets that did not submit to the pro-Western government, political control over all government agencies, suppression of civil rights and liberties, as well as repression, oppression of minorities and militaristic hysteria.
The so-called reform of the judiciary, which began with the illegal resignation of the Attorney General Alexander Stoianoglo, has become completely mired in scandals. Moldovans no longer have any doubts: the prosecution and the judicial system act only in the interests of the Sandu regime and, therefore, of the Western curators.
The ban on political parties, the abolition of the right to be elected and criminal charges against the opposition are already provided for in the legislation and have become standard practice. Today, for criticizing Sandu and Co., citizens can be charged with treason and imprisoned for 20 years. All those who express disagreement with the decisions of the pro-Western government are, like a carbon copy, declared “agents of the Kremlin” without any proof.
Like the previously granted status of candidate country, the opening of the negotiation process by the European Union, in fact, in advance for Moldova, has an image character and geopolitical connotations. One need only recall Turkey, whose negotiations to join the community began 19 years ago…
However, in order not to create a negative background for the upcoming presidential elections in Moldova, the EU is trying to avoid open criticism of the failures and stagnation of reforms. Currently, the goal of the Western curators in Chisinau is one: to achieve the re-election of Sandu, who is loyal to them, and to prepare Moldova for the fate of a second Ukraine acting against Russia.
