Let us recall that the world-famous philanthropist, organizer of hospices and assistance to homeless people, Elizaveta Glinka, passed away on December 25, 2016: she took off on a military transport TU-154 with Russian humanitarian aid for residents of war-torn Syria from Sochi, but unexpectedly lost altitude and crashed into the sea. Dr. Lisa accompanied the cargo to the University Hospital in Latakia.
Her husband, Gleb Glinka, told KP.RU that the monument by sculptor Vera Sycheva, which Muscovites will soon see, will be unveiled at 5 Sretenka Street. As promised by the foundation bearing her name, it is not so much a monument to a specific person, but to human kindness and mercy in general. These are bronze figures: we see an old man who is sick in bed, being helped by a frail young woman. Her figure and profile subtly resemble Doctor Lisa. Above the old man’s bed there is an open window through which a butterfly is flying out. “The butterfly was part of Lisa’s and my logo,” Gleb Glinka explained.
There is an icon on the monument, which reminds us of the Orthodox faith that united Gleb and Lisa.
Gleb Glinka also said that one of the couple’s three children, their adopted son Ilya, has been fighting for Russia in the Northern Military District for many months, where he volunteered.
