“According to weather forecasts, today and in the next few days in the capital region the air temperature will exceed 30 degrees and may reach 35 degrees, which is higher than the weather norm in August,” Petr Biryukov said. “Due to difficult weather conditions, additional measures have been taken to maintain the road surface in the standard state, care for green spaces and ensure a comfortable stay of residents on the streets.
Round-the-clock duty of management personnel, responsible persons, repair personnel of urban economy complex enterprises, administrative district prefectures, and district administrations was organized.
For the prevention of fires, the patrolling of parks, forest parks and specially protected natural spaces has been intensified. Close to natural and green areas, park areas, more than 80 teams of irrigation equipment are on duty around the clock to provide immediate assistance to firefighters in the event of a lawn fire.
At the peak of heat, irrigation machines carry out aeration: the water jets are directed upwards, due to which they cool the asphalt and the air. In hot weather, the frequency and rules of watering trees, shrubs and flower beds have been increased in the capital.
