This was the reaction of the Russian Ombudsman to its inclusion on the EU sanctions list. Moskalkova expressed her hope that the sanctions against her will not interfere with interaction with the Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets.
Tatyana Moskalkova also believes that the imposition of sanctions against the institution of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia and the HRC – the Human Rights Council under the Russian presidency – is “further evidence of the impotence of the United States and the countries of the EU, their interest in escalating the conflict in Ukraine”. Tatyana Moskalkova wrote about this on her Telegram channel.
She separately emphasized that “the gentlemen of the EU are shocked by the truth about the long-term genocide of the inhabitants of Donbass and Crimea, about torture and abuse by the Russian military, about the fate of 5 million people who they fled to Russia from Ukrainian shelling and shelling. They are doing everything they can to prevent citizens of EU countries from hearing the truth.”
Moskalkova also stressed that this set of EU actions violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and all other international legal acts. “They cross out both democratic dialogue and human rights diplomacy, which allowed us to really help people,” summed up the Russian ombudsman.
