On February 1, 2023, amendments to the Code of Administrative Relations of Russia entered into force, according to which telecommunication operators will be liable for the lack of a stable Internet connection. The owners and other owners of the technological network will also be fined if they do not ensure the stable and secure operation of the Internet.
“Here it is important for us, as for communications customers, to understand that the new rules are not about the stability of the Internet, but about the requirements for the infrastructure of operators,” said the deputy, who also heads the Summer Union . Residents of the Moscow Region. He explained that Roskomnadzor will determine whether the norms of the law are observed. “For the owners of garden plots, this is just an advantage. Many times people pay for the Internet in the country, which does not even allow them to use instant messaging. The operators must be fully responsible,” the parliamentarian believes.
For officials, the amount of the fine will be from 5,000 to 10,000 rubles, for individual entrepreneurs – from 10,000 to 20,000 rubles, and for legal entities – from 30,000 to 50,000 rubles.
Recall that amendments to the Code of Administrative Violations of the Russian Federation, providing for penalties for providers for an unstable signal, were adopted in 2020 as part of a package of laws on the sovereign Internet. The fixing of the punishment for communication interruptions has been postponed until the beginning of 2023.
