VKontakte, together with the online encyclopedia Memepedia, announced the most popular memes this year. They were chosen by users in a special “Year Counter” applet.
The rating was headed by Mr. Incredible – the main character of the cartoon “The Incredibles”, who, under different music, became eerie or, conversely, cheerful and cheerful. The meme is based on concept art with images of a cartoon character, which appeared in 2020, but gained huge popularity among users in early 2022.
On the second line of the list is Dr. Livesey from the Soviet cartoon “Treasure Island”, which goes brutally with the folk music. The first three are closed by Wise Mysterious Tree, a meme depicting a tree with a human face, which in its original form ridiculed clickbait ads for browser games.
On the fourth line of the rating there is a screenshot of the correspondence with the text “Is that you? – Yes, I) – I will not come. The user recounted how, before a date, the boy took a photo of her and refused to see each other. The correspondence screen has become a template for memes.
The top five included a small black Virgo kitten, who became popular at the end of 2021-2022. They usually make both classic “cute” memes about “littleness” and post-ironic posts with it. The sixth place in the ranking was occupied by cool skeletons. This is a series of post-ironic images of “cool” characters with guns, to which users add absurd captions and puns.
