MusicAeterna artists showed how they create music in the “VK Clips” format. The videos show unusual sound production techniques, vocal techniques, and the operation of rare sound devices. Resident composers, orchestral and choral artists, and dancers from musicAeterna Dance took part in the project.
The first episode of “musicAeterna: Practices” is now available for viewing in the VKontakte community. It is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Teodor Currentzis’ band and is devoted to the peculiarities of the musicians’ work. The video series included nine interviews with participants of the creative laboratory.
For example, musicAeterna and House of Radio composer-in-residence Egor Ananko spoke about the Decode Silence device, which he created at the Experimental Sound Laboratory. And musicAeterna pianist Sasha Listova demonstrated techniques for performing new music, including advanced piano playing techniques, using screwdrivers, bows, and tennis balls.
Choir director Vitaly Polonsky explained the meaning of signs and editions using the example of one of his scores, musicAeterna choir soloist Dmitry Kosov showed how to sing an interval of ideal purity, soprano Elena Gurchenko spoke about the features of medieval, classical and modern vocal traditions, and countertenor Andrey Nemzer explained the nature of his rare voice.
Previously, the collection “Afterdark” was released in support of the wards of the Khabensky Foundation. The album draws attention to the problem of childhood oncology. The musical producer of the collection is artist and composer Tim Aminov.
